The Race to the Top Education reform competition is a $4.35 billion grant created to reward innovation.  The importance of education can be seen by the passionate opinions that arose in response to the grants: Teachers unions have argued that tests are an inaccurate way to measure teacher impact.

Education remains a hot-button topic, with politicians, teachers, and parents continuing to battle it out over numerous issues.  One factor that individuals on opposite sides of the debate can agree on is the importance of education. "A child without education, is like a bird without wings."

The way that we learn in our society is baed on communication, and the way society operates, is that more and more of our communication is digital.  Here is the Top 10 list of Online Education Programs.


edX is a massive open online course provider founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University.  edX recently announced that they have partnered with Microsoft and the Smithsonian to offer courses.  Follow this link for EDX's Free Courses from Harvard University.

Coursera is an online education service founded by two Stanford professors offering many courses for free.  Researchers from Johns Hopkins University recently launched a new specialization in collaboration with Coursera that will teach basic computational and statistical skills for analyzing and exploring genomic data from high-throughput biological experiments.This link leads to a Coursera article on enhancing your career and employability.
